You should have your eyes tested every two years to ensure any vision problems are detected early. Vision loss often happens gradually so that by the time you notice changes to your vision, damage may already have been done. Early detection is critical to ensure the best chance of successful treatment. Eye examinations can be performed by your family doctor, an ophthalmologist (medical eye specialist), or an optometrist. Find an Ophthalmologist To find an ophthalmologist in your area, ask your GP or optometrist for a referral, or contact The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists on +61 2 9690 1001. The Optometrists Association Australia represents 96 percent of Australian optometrists. Click here to help locate an optometrist in your area.
