More than 150 guests enjoyed a wonderful night at the RANZCO Eye Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Dinner held as part of the RANZCO Queensland Branch Meeting on the Gold Coast last Friday night.

Hosted by well-known Brisbane newsreader Heather Foord, the evening focused on bringing together the Queensland ophthalmic community in celebration of the RANZCO Eye Foundation’s 10th Anniversary supporting eye health research, community awareness and domestic and international sustainable development projects.

RANZCO Eye Foundation Chairman Peter Keel was delighted to announce that Novartis will join Bayer and Pfizer as an Eye Foundation Diamond Partner contributing $250,000 to the Foundation’s important work.

Funds raised from these events by ticket sales and fundraising on the night will be allocated to our our chosen 10th Anniversary fundraising project which looks at why so many indigenous Australians go blind from diabetic retinopathy.

Despite being been blind since birth, guest speaker Gerrard Gosens inspired guests with tales of his incredible adventure, business and sporting achievements including competing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

We were grateful to have Eye Foundation Ambassador Kirk Pengilly attend the evening. Band, Zion, provided exceptional musical entertainment throughout the evening, and kept the dance floor grooving right up to the end of the night.
